Jeremy and Alecia, youth YMCA members, are living proof that lives are changed for the better everyday at the Findlay Family YMCA!
Last summer, they watched TV and played video games all day long. Sharon, their mom, supported the family on her own, working two jobs. She left them home without any supervision. Jeremy and Alecia battled with each other every day, creating lots of stress for the entire family.
Sharon found out about the YMCA financial assistance program through one of her colleagues. She applied, and before long, both kids were signed up for camp. Jeremy and Alecia got out of the house and off the streets of Findlay. They learned how to canoe, rock climb and be a leader to their peers. Thanks to the Y, both teens are ready to enter a new school year with a sense of accomplishment and positive empowerment! The YMCA Strong Kids Campaign is an investment in the future, making it possible for youth and families who want and need YMCA programs, but cannot afford them to make positive choices for their lives. At the heart of community life in Findlay is our mission-driven YMCA "a place to belong" and to live the values of caring, honesty, respect and responsibility.
